What is Application Virtualization?
Application virtualization encapsulates the application in it's own layer, never effecting the operating system. The application is installed and runs in it's own isolated environment on most clients – including desktops, laptops and servers. A fully virtualized application is not installed in the usual manner, although it is still executed as if it is. The application is fooled at runtime into believing that it is directly interfacing with the original operating system and all the resources managed by it, when in reality it is not.
